Don't Fear Failure, Fear Regret

,

I was driving when I heard an interesting news broadcast on the radio.

Apparently there was a big birthday gathering happening for a bunch of folks over the age of 100… and the radio station had sent a reporter to interview some of the guests of honor.

The reporter asked the old timers what their secret was for living to such a ripe old age.

One lady said to live each day as though it was the only one given to you.

And this old guy said… and I quote: “lots of booze, late nights, and women”

I couldn’t stop laughing my ass off!

You know what I got out of that fifteen-second news clip?

1. Don’t get old.
2. Don’t get old and have regrets.

You can tell by both of their answers that these folks don’t have regrets.

Tony Robins has this little test in one of his books called the “rocking chair test”.

It’s where you imagine yourself old and gray, sitting on a porch somewhere in a rocking chair.

Knowing what you know today will you have any regrets?
Will you regret never starting that business?

… or not getting out of your comfort zone when you had the chance?

… or not taking that world cruise or living in another country?

… or not getting up in front of that audience?

… or not approaching that guy or girl you got your eye on?

… or not dumping that dead end job that’s actually holding you captive?

… or not skydiving, swimming with sharks, running with the bulls, or whatever crazy adventure rocks your boat.

See most people fear failure so much that they’re willing to deal with the bullshit circumstance they’re in.

F that!

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be in that rocking chair laughing at my past failures and glowing about my successes rather than being bitter with regret wondering what may have happened if only I had pulled the trigger and made that one decision.

You gotta live your dream!

Don’t let others tell you what your dream should be or why it’s such a bad idea. What the hell do they know?

Get out of your comfort zone and do something!

Make that decision that you know you should because failure is temporary but REGRET is forever.

Give yourself the “rocking chair test” right now. Are you feeling any regrets?

The Most Powerful Tool In Your Fitness Arsenal

What if I told you there was a tool so powerful and so helpful that it can almost put your quest for fitness on auto-pilot well I would be telling you the truth!

Without sounding like an infomercial for some miracle pill or magic juice, what is this mystery force. Simply put, it is your mind!

Like Albert Gyorgyi says, “Whatever a man does he must do first in his mind.” I wholeheartedly agree with that statement, it's the truth. You can't write without thinking about what you are going to write about first, you can't say anything unless you think of it first, well at least anything meaningful. Every single thing that you do originates in your mind.

Apply this process to fitness - and we can say that you have to see yourself thin and an ultimate outcome of weight loss in your mind first - before you can even begin the process.

Why is it for some people being heavy is a frame of mind rather than just a temporary condition? I have to say if you are going to be fit and healthy you have to start thinking like a fit and healthy person. This can be summed up by a quote from Mike Todd, “I've never been poor, only broke. Being poor is a frame of mind. Being broke is only a temporary situation.”

You must believe it yourself before you can actually do something. You are never going to be able to do something if you don't think you can! If you are stuck in a “heavy mindset”, your body will stay the same accordingly.

Planning is indeed a guarantee for reaching your goal. When you go grocery shopping do you have a plan? Or do you go around the isles letting your stomach decide for you what you will buy at the time?

I always advocate shopping with a list when you are full. If you plan out your grocery shopping trip you are much more likely to get only what's on your list. Then you don't have those extra boxes of twinkles or bag of cookies sneaking into your shopping cart - which would be a very bad temptation to have lurking in your house.

The title of a great book, “Battlefield Of The Mind”, says it all in the title. Why have a battle take place in your mind each time you need to make a decision. You are tempted to dive into that freshly baked double-triple fudge cake at the office party, are you going to sit their staring at it and try and decide what you should do, weighing the pro's and con's in your mind.

Or are you going to let your goals decide for you. You say to yourself I already thought this out, and this won't help me reach my goals, so you happily reject the temptation and move on to the delightful broccoli casserole.

Let your mind decide what your future will be rather than your stomach.

Plan out and determine what you want to happen in the future, and how you are going to go about getting there. If you don't decide yourself - your circumstances will shape what happens. Use your mind to create the right circumstances in order for you to succeed on your journey.

Exercise May Save African American Women From Diabetes

It has been observed that there is a possibility of reduction in the risk of obtaining type two diabetes in African American women if they take fast walks repeatedly in a week. It was reported in an almost unprecedented study by Reuters Health published this month in the American Journal of Epidemiology.

For this specific study dealing with the less dealt with topic of prevention from diabetes in black female population, Julie Palmer of Boston University and her colleagues utilized data involving 45,000 black women, collected from 1995 to 2005 for the ongoing Black Women’s Health Study.

When researchers compared the data, it was disclosed that that those black women who were in the habit of walking for exercise for a minimum of five hours per week, were one-third less probable to develop type 2 strain of diabetes than the ones whose routine was void of walking for exercise.

was significantly lower among women who said they regularly took a brisk walk even when taking into account other possible factors contributing to gaining wait such as old age, high income and excessive diet. The study included a large number of rich, old or already obese black women and almost all appeared to have a lower risk for developing diabetes if they were regular walkers. The researchers took many other obesity factors into account. The risk of being diagnosed with the disease

The Reuters researchers particularly studied excessive television watchers and concluded that ladies habitual of watching television for five or more hours daily were 86% more likely to develop diabetes as compared to the less than one hour watchers.

Palmer declared the findings of the report very crucial because they show a ray of hope for black diabetic women by suggesting a way to reduce the disease risk even among the women who are otherwise at highest risk of the disease because of age, fatness or affluence.
